Cut it Short
27 Sep 2003 — 3.0 miles — Mizuno Wave Creation
Well I put too much in last night and I ended up paying for it today. I had to let RG go on without me and finish up the 7 mile loop. I guess it's good I got in 3. I'll probably take tomorrow off.
0 mile to Pecos/Scenic and Back
26 Sep 2003 — 10.5 miles — Mizuno Wave Creation
I felt good so I logged quite a bit of mileage tonight. Hopefully I'll still be able to keep up on tomorrow morning's long run.
My endurance was good though my knees did tire near the end of the run. It seems like I have a slight soreness on the inside of my lower left leg and it's been there since the beginning of this season. I doesn't cause too many issues so hopefully it'll stay that way.
Bugged
24 Sep 2003 07:05PM — 4.0 miles — Mizuno Wave Creation
The usual Town Lake loop is starting to get more crowded as the weather cools down. My 4 loop today went just fine for the most part, other than the bug. Read on. »
Hill Training
21 Sep 2003 02:30PM — 6.5 miles — Mizuno Wave Creation
It's been a long time since I've trained on hills and I've never done a very good job of it. Yesterday I mapped out a 6.5 mile course along portions of the run I have done for the past two years on New Year's Day. It is a scenic course with a lot of ups and downs and there is a bike lane or sidewalk for large portions of the run.
I felt great throughout the entire run despite the fact that I'm trying to get a sore throat. It was also 100% humidity the entire way. For the last half mile, I was able to push my pace without pain. Even my endurance seemed ok! Hopefully I'll do this course a few more times before the Pervasive run as I hear it has a lot of hills. »
Up to 6
16 Sep 2003 07:15PM — 6.0 miles — Mizuno Wave Creation
I'm now up to 6 miles! I think I might have gotten there too fast but we'll see. I wasn't particularly sore during any part of the run today though I was tired by the four mile point.
I stopped for water at 3.5 and 5 miles and again I started at an unusual spot due to parking. I guess it's nice to have the cooler weather back, but everyone else is back in their routines as well.
Overall my pace was faster than I thought it would be for this early in my training and especially at this distance. I don't think I'll push my pace much faster than I did today during any race.
Two in a Row
15 Sep 2003 07:15PM — 4.0 miles — Mizuno Wave Creation
Today is the first time I've run back2back days in quite a while. I started off a bit later than usual and since the sun is going down earlier, it was cooler. However, that didn't stop everyone else from going, too, so I had to park in an alternate location! Due to the parking, I didn't take a water break until about 2.5 miles into my 4 mile run. »
Two Today
14 Sep 2003 — 8.0 miles — Mizuno Wave Creation
The weather today was completely different in the morning and this evening. It rained pretty good for a short while in the afternoon and things cooled off quite a bit. So, I ended up putting in two runs today ... which is good since I haven't been in what seems like forever! »
DC Training Commences
01 Sep 2003 07:15PM — 2.5 miles — Mizuno Wave Creation
I officially decided that Sep 1 would be the day that I start my Distance Challenge Training. I ran my first marathon with the help of the DC training runs and I think it'll do me just as well for my third. »
